enough about horses already. my name is hooteeny, k9 escapologist. i was named after my muse harry houdini. i’m a four year-old (more or less) mixed breed. people like to speculate about which breeds went into making me so unique. any guesses?
one year ago i was rescued by my humans, geo (my photographer) and michelle (your leadmare). sometimes i wonder if she thinks i’m a miniature horse, especially when she tells me to whoa, walk on, and trot. no offense, but you humans are silly.
don’t ask me how (a magician *never* reveals his secrets), but i hacked michelle’s computer and set myself up with a blog account. although I’m not a horse, everyone knows that horses and dogs go together like peanut butter and jelly (well, maybe not all horses and dogs).

you’re right, michelle didn’t get mad at me — she actually praised me for learning a new trick! but she did make me promise not to hack anyone’s computer except hers.
i should have known michelle wouldn’t be angry. guess i’m still getting used to having humans who love and care for me, unlike the first 3 years of my life…
What happenned to u in the first 3 years of your life?
hi marisa. i was neglected and hurt by my first humans, and almost died in an animal shelter. luckily i was found by a group called “second chance rescue” and brought to geo and michelle’s home for foster care. they fell in love with me and it wasn’t long before i was adopted.
now i know that when things are bad, there’s always hope.
I understand why they fell in love with you! Your a very clever dog to be able to type! ;)
Awwww… I feel bad for you. Why do people buy dogs and neglect them and don’t care for them if they know they cant take care of a dog. the least they could do is research before buying one and risking one’s life in a shelter! I hate it when people do stupid things like that!

hi madelaina. it’s a dog’s life at home. other than hacking computers and practicing my craft as an escapologist, i do what most lucky dogs do.
i sleep, preferably curled up next to a person. i have short hair, so the body heat of a human helps keep me warm (plus i like to cuddle).
i eat yummy meals and yummy treats (usually i have to work for those by doing a trick) and go for walks in the neighborhood, at the beach, or along hiking trails.
sometimes i play with my cat, BOO. he’s OK for a cat — never tries to swat me (unlike some of the cats i meet). other times i play with the kids in my neighborhood. they love me. one of them even made me a jacket! i also like to play with my toys. believe it or not, i have one toy that’s a horse. it’s my favorite.
yup, i’m a lucky dog.
You must be happy being home with Leadmare instead of your old abusive owners! =)

BOO lived here before me. he was also adopted. his first humans were really nice, they just couldn’t keep him anymore. there’s a picture of him in the “meet the bloggers” section. seems BOO likes horses too, at least horse statues…
Well I’m very interested of your daily life. So do you think learning tricks are hard?
What does dog food taste like. I’ve never attempted eating it myself!

wag-wag, marisa. i’m spoiled. i eat mostly homemade dog food so i’m a chow hound at meals. one time michelle was away and geo cooked for me. um, yuck. did i mention i’m spoiled?
anyone ever eaten dog food?
wag-wag, madelaina. it’s not hard to teach a dog new tricks. it just takes practice, patience and treats!
do your animal friends know any tricks?
Sure does Hooteeny. I have a dog called Hunter who can roll over, spin, drop, sit, stand and I’m teaching him to shake hands. Lily can only sit and drop, but with some food I can hold out my arm and she will jump up and put her front legs on it. I really wish you can meet them. They’re very nice. Can I invite them up here? :D
Hi Hooteeny! My friend has a really cool dog who’ll roll over when you tell her and wave and give you her paw! She’s so clever! When i was little i ate dog biscuits,crunchy,sorta bacon tasting,oh I was crazy! :D
Hooteeny, is it true that some dog food made dogs sick?
ok, this website is supposed to be about horses,not dos, i love dogs very much,but why dont you creat a website about dogs, this is supposed to be about HORSES
wag-wag marisa: recently there was a batch of contaminated pet food that made dogs and cats sick and even killed some of them. sometimes people food gets contaminated too. i don’t know much about it, but it’s sad when anyone gets sick from bad food.
wag-wag Irish Butterfly: have you been to a horse barn that didn’t have dogs, cats and other non-horse critters hanging around? i’m sure horse-only barns exist… somewhere.
At my olds riding stable there was about four dogs,they were really nice.Are you a riding school dog?
My lesson barn is nest door to a dog training facility so I always see dogs running aroung. Sometimes tey’ll be wearing sweaters in the winter.
It’s so sad that people would’nt be careful about the food they’re making and just sell it to people without reliezing it was poseinous. I hope u didn’t eat any of it. =(

wag-wag girls: i weigh 15 pounds (that’s about half a kilogram), probably too small to have german shepherd in my breeding. most likely i have some terrier (i jump HIGH like a circus dog), definitely some chihuahua and maybe some italian greyhoud (i run FAST like a race horse, er, race dog). :)

wag-wag animalsrkool! sorry it took me a while to respond. being a pampered pet leaves me with little time for blogging.
jack russell is a type of terrier, so i may have some. who knows. my people like to say i’m a purebred affection hound!
wag-wag horsejo! i have lots of doggy friends in my neighborhood and at the dog park. my best friend is jackson, a yellow lab. he only has three legs because he had cancer, but we still go for walks together. i tell him to look at the bright side — at least now he doesn’t have to lift his leg to pee!
i’m worried about jackson because the cancer may have spread before they removed his leg. if you can, wish on a star or say a little prayer for my three-legged buddy.

I’m praying for your buddy, Hooteeny. I have many doggy friends, Kassy who’s a miniture pinscher, Scooter, who’s a black lab/chow mix, and my beloved pet brutie who’s a white maltese. he died last year because he had a tumer in his stomach and we put him to sleep so he could have a better life. his ashes are on the bottem of the ocean right now. i hope he’s happy in doggy heaven. :)
Oh that’s a pity for Jackson, tell him I wish him luck. My dogs Hunter and Lily just had puppies and they are so cute.

Oh my dog’s name is Lily and she is a mix between a tri-colored border collie and a german shepard. She is a really great dog. You are a great dog too. Marisa: I know! Isn’t that just the saddest thing? And it must have stung after he had to get his leg cut off! Poor little Jackson! I feel sorry for hooteeny because it must be sad to know your friend has cancer
he’s lucky he didn’t die but he still lost a leg. i hope he can walk okay.

madelaina, your dogs have puppies? what a lucky girl you are! personally i think puppies are pesky, but they’re so cute you humans go ga-ga over them. my person loves to smell their puppy breath. is that silly or what?
horsejo, i don’t have a girlfriend — i have many! what can i say, i’m a really cute dog so the ladies love me. i’m not home alone very much, but when i have time to myself i practice being an escapologist and magician. i’m trying to learn how to make things disappear, starting with our cat… ;) (just kidding)
marisa, jackson walks nearly as well as he did with three legs and he’s as nice as ever to everyone he meets. he’s my hero.

I was wondering if you like baths or don’t like baths?
Ha ha ha! I was just wondering… Why do dogs like to chew on things so much and who came up with sniffing each other’s behind to say hello? just wondering.
wag-wag ponyprincess! baths are not my favorite thing. fortunately i’m small and have short hair so at least it goes quickly. do humans like baths?
wag-wag marisa! dogs chew stuff for different reasons. i like to chew my stuffed animal toys — i rip them open, take out those annoying squeaky things, and pull out all the stuffing. my friend ‘chewie’ (can you guess why he has that name?) tells me that when he’s feeling bored, playful or nervous he likes to chew things. especially shoes. he gets in trouble a lot…
us dogs do like to sniff. did you know a dog’s sense of smell is a million times better than a human’s? when we sniff the bum of other dogs, it’s a way to learn something about them. we also know a lot about you humans by how you smell. you probably know some dogs are used to sniff out illegal drugs and for finding lost people, but did you know dogs are used to sniff out cancer?
Well basically I can go ga-ga over any dog! lol. The puppies were interesting because their breath actually smelled like coffee!

thanks hooteeny! i know dogs can sniff out illegal drugs and cancer! that’s really cool! i heard on the news a while ago that people are starting to use wild horses to track illegal drugs too. is it true that a dog’s mouth is cleaner then a human’s?
i saw a dog who looks just like you! cute! i have an idea. maybe we can set up a time where you come on for like a few hours and answer all our questions and reply to our comments? that would be fun.
wag-wag marisa! a dog’s mouth may be cleaner than a human’s, but you people don’t eat the things we eat so you tend to assume our mouth is a haven for bad germs. guess i can’t blame you considering that i like to each cat barf and deer poo, lol.

wag-wag horsejo: sorry it’s been so doggone long since i checked in. these days my people are working on the computer a lot, and when they’re not working i’d rather be snoozing on their laps than hacking into computers. :) but i’m hoping to do a new blog soon and maybe start my own blog.
it’s hard to set up a time to meet online since we all live in different time zones around the world. but i’ll continue to visit when i can.

yup, that’s me. on saturday i ate WAY too much, well, you don’t wanna know… but three days and a vet bill later, i’m feeling like my cute little self again.
my advice: too much of a good thing ain’t so good.

wag-wag ponyprincess! BOO and i get along just fine. mostly he ignores me, but on rare occasions he rubs against me and purrs. that’s his cat way of saying “i like you ok, but don’t let it go to your head.”
as for annie, i’m not allowed to be around her unless i’m on leash because i get a little wacky, barking and acting all ferocious. that’s my dog way of saying “i’m really scared of you so i’m going to make a lot of noise and hopefully you’ll think i’m scary.”
some horses might be scared, but annie just gives me a look that says “get lost pipsqueak — i could take you out with one swift kick if i wasn’t such a nice horse.”

wag-wag Horsecrazzz! as a K9 escapologist and magician i normally don’t reveal my secrets, but it’s no secret that i don’t hide anything. i keep all my toys and bones in a basket in our family room. my favorite toy is a stuffed horse, which is actually a limp horse now because i’ve ripped open the seams and torn out all the stuffing. (nothing against real horses — i do that to all my stuffed toys)

My dogs live outside, so they burry alot of tennis balls, but none of my stuffed animals! O:-) I’m sure you are a little angel! ;)
