You Don’t Have to Ride to Win

Horse shows are fun whether you are watching them or competing in them. But there are classes in shows that you don’t ride in. In fact, it happens to be my favorite class. I love to compete in showmanship!
Showmanship is a class where you lead your horse. As you lead the horse around the arena, the judges watch to see how well the horse follows directions while you are on the ground. Riding and leading are two completely different things. Then after a couple times around the arena, you might be asked to line up in the center. One at a time, you may be asked to walk you horse from one judge to another. You will turn them when you get to one judge, then trot back to the judge you were at first. All competitors will do this.
Then after everyone is lined up again, the judge will come around to see how well you show off your horse. When the judge comes to one side, you should be on the other so that he/she can see well. Then the class is probably over.
This is the way showmanship is at the stables where I ride. It might be different at other shows. You might be thinking, what fun would it be if you aren’t riding? But it really is fun. At least it is fun for me, every person is different.
So next time you are wondering what class to compete in, give showmanship a try! You never know, it might be the one that gets you first place.

Thanks for this! I know a lady who does this, hehe, she seems to win alot.Have fun at those shows!
I’ve always wanted to try showmanship. But then, when I started riding, it somehow vanished. I am really attatched to jumping now, but when I get older, I’ll give it a try!
I am so excited! This was so much fun! I can’t believe I’m a Jr. Blogger! Thank you LeadMare, GHC editors, and all the other girls! Before I met you I didn’t know how many dreams could come true just by surfing the web!
What a great blog, Jr. Blogger!
lol,i keep forgetting Horsecrazzz and Rebecca Shyly are the same person! Welcome! {:D} heeehee
This is a really good blog! I never even heard about this event! Well, I hope you win!
Horsecrazzz, Umm, just wondering, how come you use a name when you write, and Horsecrazzz when you blog comment??? :-/ Just wondering
I don’t know Tori… maybe because I already had that pen name, and wanted to have a name like Horsecrazzz, that no one else did. Lots of people could have Rebecca as their name, so I wanted to be different! Now back on topic…
Rebecca, it looks like someone is republishing your words and calling them theirs:

If this bothers you, and it should, you should write them an email and demand that they remove your words from their article.
Thank you Elise. I will try to post a comment asking her to stop doing this. That blogger had some content published here previously before we shifted to publishing blogs by kids. Too bad, she seems talented enough in her own right…
OMG! This makes me really upset. But I am comfident that LeadMAre will handle it apropriatly! LeadMAre, can you let me know what they say. I am going to check it out though. Thanks for telling me about it Elise! You rock!
Horsecrazzz, I spoke (on the phone) with one of the people behind that blog and asked her to remove the plagiarized content. It should be gone now. I’m hopeful it will not happen again. She seemed like a nice, talented person who can stand on her own without claiming the creative work of others.
I’m very sorry this happened, but appreciate that Elise brought it to our attention.
Thanks so much for your vote of confidence Horsecrazzz.
I am very proud that Elise brought this to our attention. I can not say this enough: THANK YOU ELISE THANK YOU SO MUCH (repeat a million times) :D
